Lacklustre Blues beaten by resurgent Scarlets.

Cardiff Blues lost their unbeaten home record on Friday night with defeat to Llanelli Scarlets in a poor game at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Man of the Match, Rhys Priestland, was the decisive factor in the end with three penalties and a converted try. However, the damage could have been worse had the video referee not ruled out two tries from Iestyn Thomas and Ben Morgan.

The Blues' best spell was undoubtedly after the sin binning of winger, Morgan Stoddart. Richie Rees inspired the Blues and his darting run and pass to Ceri Sweeney gave David Young's side their only try of the game. However, just before half time Rees was sin binned himself for a debatable deliberate knock-on and upon his return he never recaptured his first half form. The decisive moment came when Sean Lamont, standing in as Scarlets captain, set Priestland on a 40 yard run to the line. Welsh fly half, Stephen Jones, on as substitute despatched the conversion.

Final score Cardiff Blues 10 Llanelli Scarlets 16.
