CARDIFF BLUES TACKLE KIDS RUGBY FESTIVAL

A tag rugby primary schools festival for more than 1,000 children is being held at Cardiff Arms Park on Tuesday 10th & Wednesday 11th May.

The two day event will see children aged between six and eleven years from over 80 schools across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, join together to play tag rugby.

The event will also be attended by players from the Cardiff Blues squad.

The scheme is in its fourth year and is organised by Future Blues U12’s Rugby Development Officer Nadine Griffiths It is supported by Sport.Cardiff and Principal sponsor Apollo Teaching Services.

The event aims to showcase grass roots schools rugby and is the culmination of the four weeks of Free coaching sessions undertaken by a Future Blues Community Coach within primary school across the Blues Region.

The Future Blues Community Coaches are recruited from higher education establishments and are trained by Sport.Cardiff and Cardiff Blues. Each coach selected receives vocational coaching experience and accreditation in order to maintain the successful delivery of the schools rugby development programme.

The scheme also aims to create school club exit routes and encourages children to get involved in their local rugby clubs.
