Wales Rugby League in association with South Wales Scorpions are staging the first of three junior Scorpions Super Sunday festivals on Sunday 5th June at Caerphilly RFC before the Scorpions’ Co-operative Championship 1 match against Workington Town.
The Scorpions v Workington match kicks off at 1pm and the organisers are expecting a bumper crowd with 10 under 13 sides from the length of South Wales taking part in the festival beforehand. This all kicks off at 9am with the Final scheduled for 12.10pm.
The children from all of the sides will make a guard of honour for the Scorpions and Workington players to run out on the pitch for kick-off at 1pm and they will all do a lap of honour at half-time after presentations have been made.
Mark Jones, National Development Manager for Wales Rugby League, said: “With more youngsters playing Rugby League in Wales than ever before, including an under 14 competition for the very first time, it makes sense to bring them all together for one big festival. We’re certain that it’s going to be a fantastic event and I’m sure that all the children will enjoy watching South Wales Scorpions after their games.”
Tickets for the whole of Scorpions Super Sunday cost £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. All children, whether playing in the festival or not, are admitted free of charge for the whole day. Parents and supporters of the junior sides in the festival can buy half-price adult entry tickets from their respective clubs by applying to their regular club contact.
