WRU ANNOUNCE ‘DHL CHALLENGE’ MATCH

The Welsh Rugby Union today announced the appointment of DHL as the title sponsor of Wales’ Rugby World Cup warm-up fixture with the Barbarians at the Millennium Stadium next month.
The WRU can also confirm the ‘DHL Challenge’ match will be shown live on BBC Wales and will also be available on BBC Network via the red button.
The 26-man Wales squad, which will take on the Baa-Baas on Saturday, 4 June (kick-off 2.30pm), was also announced earlier this week with Wales coach Warren Gatland targeting the fixture as the start of his RWC preparations proper.
DHL’s match sponsorship is for the Barbarians game only, but the world’s leading express and logistics company will also receive branding rights at Wales other pre RWC warm-ups against England and Argentina in August.
DHL is also the Official Logistics Partner for Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand.
“We are delighted to have secured title sponsorship from a company of such considerable global prestige and appeal and are very much looking forward to working in partnership at the DHL Challenge match at the Millennium Stadium next month,” said WRU Group head of marketing Craig Maxwell.
“The appointment of a globally renowned brand and a world leader in the logistics industry further underscores the high esteem in which Welsh rugby is held and is befitting for this 130thAnniversary match for the WRU.
“It is also with great satisfaction that we are able to announce that we have secured a television rights deal with BBC Wales alongside the DHL sponsorship, ensuring that the match will be shown live across the country and available elsewhere on BBC network via the red button.”
Phil Couchman, Chief Executive Officer, DHL Express (UK & Ireland) added: "We are proud to be able to offer our support in an official capacity to Welsh rugby for the DHL Challenge match against the Barbarians.
“This is a prestigious fixture which celebrates the 130 years of the Welsh Rugby Union. Rugby is about passion, teamwork and can-do spirit; values that are shared by DHL Express."
