England v India Test Series Preview

This Thursday sees the start of very intriguing series between England and India.

The two teams go in to this series full of confidence after both won their respective recent test series.

Both teams have very strong batting line-ups so achieving a positive result in this series for either team will be difficult. Also the inclement weather will play a huge role to the extent that all four tests could well all end in draws.

I feel England to be favourites in this series after their first eleven played in the recent test series against Sri Lanka.

India didn't have the luxury of their full squad as some of their senior players such as Virender Sehwag & Sachin Tendulkar opted out of the series away in the Caribbean against West Indies.

Virender Sehwag looks likely to miss first test due to injury which is a blow for India. He is so relied upon as opening batsmen due to his very attacking nature of batting.

India will prove a sterner test to England's batsmen than the Sri Lankan bowlers were in the recent test series. I still think India will find it more difficult than England to take twenty wickets in a match.

I think it was wrong for England to not drop Stuart Broad from the whole squad and I would have kept Steven Finn in the squad. I would have played Finn instead of Broad. I would have been bold and played Tim Bresnan as well at the expense of Eoin Morgan. This strategy which I have mentioned in previous blogs of five specialist bowlers is a necessity for England in Test Cricket.

I hope both teams play to their potential throughout the series as Test Cricket needs an intriguing and wonderful Test Series.
