The Tiger Bay Brawlers are excited to announce that they have been accepted as a member of the UK Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) – the first roller derby league in Wales to achieve membership status.
Rachel ’Dolly Dropkick’ Davies, a founding member and skater, said “we’re really excited about working with the UKRDA to build the reputation of roller derby in Wales and the UK. Being recognised as a model league and affiliated with the UKRDA is a massive deal to us and is testament to how far we’ve come in the last year; we hosted the first ever roller derby bout in Wales in January and have now become the first Welsh league to be accepted by the UKRDA. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!”
Established in April 2010, the Tiger Bay Brawlers have dominated the roller derby scene in Cardiff, with their orange brigade of loyal supporters travelling throughout the UK to watch them play. The league has gone from strength to strength and started bouting publicly in January this year. A recent fresh-meat intake has seen the league grow considerably, and they anticipate debuting their intra-league teams early in 2012.
