William Bragg signs new 2-year contract

Young Welsh batsman William Bragg has signed a new two-year contract with Glamorgan Cricket, for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The 24 year-old, Newport-born player has enjoyed a prolific season in the LV= County Championship, and is currently approaching 1000 runs. He recently recorded his maiden first-class century, in a match-winning innings at Colwyn Bay, and has scored a half-century in each of his last five Championship matches.

Bragg said: “I am very pleased to commit my future to Glamorgan, and excited about being part of a successful team. I’ve been pleased with my form towards the end of the season and now want to continue that into 2012 and establish myself in all forms of the game.”

Colin Metson, Managing Director of Cricket, said: “We are delighted that William has taken his opportunity in the team so well and has particularly enjoyed a terrific end to the season. He has been playing some very exciting cricket and we look forward to him improving that form, and putting himself in contention for a place in Glamorgan’s one-day side, next season.”
